The god of wealth and treasure, perhaps the most popular of the Seven Lucky Gods. Known for his magic mallet, his large treasure bag and the rice bales he stands on, he is worshipped for wealth and fortune, bountiful harvests and thriving business.
I painted Daikokuten almost entirely in gold. The magic mallet is gold too, decorated with the takara-zukushi pattern. Its striking face carries a coin crest drawn with seigaiha waves, the handle has karakusa vines, and a red ornamental knot with a tassel hangs from it.
A kikko hood, a takara-zukushi robe, a shippo treasure bag and a black seigaiha hakama: I packed in as many treasure and good-luck patterns as I possibly could.
May this power bring abundance to everyone.
